The Blueprint Brigade Raises Funds for Women Build 2024

Last Friday, Redmond once again participated in Women Build! The (small, but mighty) Blueprint Brigade came together with other women volunteers as they raised funds and built homes for first-time female homeowners in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood, all while learning valuable new skills!

Hosted annually by Habitat for Humanity, Women Build unites nearly 800 women across Chicago to both raise funds for the organization and participate in a build day, where volunteers provide hands-on assistance building homes. 

Women face unique challenges to homeownership due to systemic barriers like the gender pay gap, which affects credit access, and uneven childcare responsibilities that strain both time and financial resources. Women Build aims to dismantle these barriers by raising funds for Habitat for Humanity homes, which are then sold to women through affordable mortgage programs.
